For this new creation, the Boris Eifman Ballet Company in St. Petersburg received the special Golden Soffit Expert Committee Award. “For many years, I have discovered the musical world of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and realized how profound and infinite the composer’s world was. I understood by immersing myself in his music, a multitude of themes related to his musical creation, his psychic identity, and relationships with his relatives. But, I did not feel this immense wealth earlier, and I wanted to dive deeper into the environment of Tchaikovsky’s creative torment, “he says. The choreographic narration of Boris Eifman Ballet’s new production PRO ET CONTRA, is in keeping with the composer’s music in a great and precise dramaturgical emotion.

June 5th, 2018 and June 8th, 2018 – WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY AND WORLD OCEANS DAY – Action focus for World Oceans Day 2018: Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean. Will you stop using single use plastic bags, bottles and straws to help our ocean? Plastic trash is a serious problem for our ocean, and especially all the animals that call it home, but together we can be part of the solution.

The #WorldOceansDay Youth Advisory Council members represent 17 countries!

Have access to the Plastic Pollution Lesson Plan It is easy to follow and can be done from anywhere! By clicking “Sign Up” you will be directed to a short form to complete. Once you complete the sign-up form, you will be sent an email with a link to view and download the lesson plan.  This lesson was designed with youth in mind and we hope that young people will use this resource to teach their peers and community members about plastic pollution, inspire them with solutions, and empower them by doing an activity. http://www.worldoceansday.org/social-media

Join the TAF campaign as well – The Animal Fund’s long-term mission is to end the use of plastic bottle through inspiring people in saving our planet from the deadly waste overtaking our oceans. TAF wants to bring together children and adults to participate in the ambition towards making our planet a cleaner and healthier place to live in, through fun, instructive and educative activities.

Plastic pollution is one of the most serious threats to the ocean as it does not biodegrade; instead, it breaks down into progressively smaller pieces, but never disappears. As a result of this, marine life is rapidly dying out. This campaign brings together people from different age groups and different backgrounds all fighting for the same intention, a cleaner ocean with an abundance of marine life!

July 16th-21st, 2018 – NICE JAZZ FESTIVAL – THEATRE DE VERDURE – PLACE MASSÉNA – This year it is the 70th anniversary of this event which took place for the first time in February 1948. After the 2016 edition canceled following the tragedy that took place on July 14th on the Promenade des Anglais, in 2017 the Nice Jazz Festival was back and the emotion was palpable throughout the 5 evenings. The sponsor of the edition, Herbie Hancock, opened the festival with a speech promoting peace and hope. Each of the artists shared a special moment with the public, dedicated to the victims of July 14th. The artists gathered nearly 43,000 spectators, a new attendance record for the town. Under the leadership of Robert Roux, Councilor, Delegate for Cinema, Arts in Public Space, Contemporary Culture Center “Chantier 109”, Subdelegate to Museums and Contemporary Music, art is fixed in the heart of Nice Jazz Festival. The Nice Jazz Festival must be at the crossroads of artistic disciplines. A competition was launched this winter for the creation of the new poster of the Nice Jazz Festival. Of the 70 posters chosen, Mauro Maugliani’s work was chosen to illustrate the 70th anniversary of the Nice Jazz Festival. The work is a tribute to those who participated in the fame of the city of Nice around the world. We find a representation of trumpet player Louis Armstrong, jazz icon par excellence who was the star of the first edition in 1948, in a retro atmosphere in black and white that only painting can recreate, in this liturgical rite that sees the music on the same tonal rhythm of shapes and colors.” Don’t miss the Summer Afterworks Live at the Ellington Hotel Nice Center as well.
