by Ilaria Sismondini

From Venice to Monaco, from New York to Greece, culture, glamour and spine-chilling entertainment are at the top!

October 12 2018, 6.30 pm, WEB AND LITERATURE IN MONACO WITH THE CAMPIELLO PRIZE – The Italian Embassy hosts the Literary Prize at the opening of the “XVIII Week of Italian Language in the World”. Famous guests to celebrate the Italian language at the Salle d’Or Fairmont Monte Carlo are expected; the protagonists of the 56th edition of the Campiello Prize, a contemporary Italian fiction competition organized by the Il Campiello Foundation – Confindustria Veneto, will be guests in the Principality of Monaco.

This is the only international stage of the Campiello Prize tour after the final evening in Venice last September 15, which saw the victory of Rosella Postorino with the novel “Le Assaggiatrici” (Feltrinelli). The event, organized by the Embassy of Italy in the Principality of Monaco, in collaboration with the agency Communiqué and Confindustria Veneto, will be moderated by Giancarlo Leone, authoritative signing of the Italian television scene and son of Giovanni Leone, President of the Italian Republic since 1971 to 1978. Matteo Zoppas, President of the Il Campiello Foundation and of Confindustria Veneto, former magistrate Carlo Nordio, President of the Jury of the Literati, and Walter Barberis, President of the Einaudi Publishing House, will be on stage. For the authors will speak Francesco Targhetta who, with “The potential lives” (Mondadori), has obtained, in his prose debut, the second place, telling the story of three very different men, engaged in an IT company in the suburbs of Marghera. A theme that fits perfectly with that of the “Week of Italian Language in the World-2018” which aims to deepen the relationship between Italians and the web, the close link established with the virtual world of computing, declined from a human perspective, just like reads the title of the Week: “Italian and the network, networks for Italian”. On this occasion the “Il Quadro Elettronico” exhibition will be presented, conceived and realized by the Milanese artist Davide Coltro, curated by Christine Enrile, President of CE Contemporary and Artistic Director of the Civic Gallery of Palazzo Tagliaferro in Andora. Admission by invitation: montecarlo.segr@esteri.it

October 13 at 8:00 pm – GRIMALDI FORUM – SALLE DES PRINCES – GASPARD PROUST IN CONCERT –  “I Don’t Generally Like Classical Music, but with Gaspard Proust I Do” It’s been almost ten years since the concept “I do not like the classic, but I like it” has become the most popular and unifying project of the classical phonographic market. Adapting this success to the stage was therefore a continuation that was both logical and audacious. Logic because it’s a safe bet that a popular music on record will also be on the scene. Bold because it’s about turning a purely musical and graphic object into a real show. We thus discover Gaspard Proust late music lover. He got into the game of the project, designed himself a musical selection that goes from Bach to the twentieth century, Four Seasons to the Nutcracker, and makes us taste the finest works of the repertoire through the prism of his unique and irresistible humor. Gaspard Proust will be surrounded for the occasion by a group of renowned classical musicians (piano, violins, cello, viola, flute and clarinet). Once again, the public will attend a magnificent concert and even more the meeting of stand-up and classical music. October 17 2018 – INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR ERADICATION OF POVERTY – Message from Ms Irina Bokova, Director -General of UNESCO: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development promises to leave no one behind, and calls for eradicating poverty by 2030. For this, we need swift action by Governments to translate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into effective policies that are supported with appropriate resources. The 2030 Agenda is ambitious — we need ambitious measures to take it forward. The 2030 Agenda emphasizes the integration of the social, economic and environmental dimensions of poverty eradication, so we need integrated action across different policy spheres, making the most of capabilities and resources through targeted policies designed to accelerate progress across the board. This is the importance of UNESCO’s leadership in advancing cooperation through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information. Along with theOrganisation’s Global Priorities, Gender Equality and Africa, these are areas with catalytic impact across the 2030 Agenda, acting as development multipliers for a wide range of goals and targets. Capabilities must be combined with ownership. National plans to eradicate poverty will be stronger if they are inclusive, integrating the voices of all parts of society. Access to basic services is essential, as is the required knowledge capabilities – but eradicating poverty calls also for greater participation by all women and men, starting with young people, whose empowerment is key to success. Eradicating poverty is a human rights imperative — it is also a development imperative and a peace imperative. This is why we need action now to translate promises into reality. This is UNESCO’s message on this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.”
