FROM CANNES TO SANREMO TWO FESTIVALS NOT TO BE MISSED

by Ilaria Salerno and Susanna Giusto, plus a note from the Montecarlotimes’ publisher Ilio Masprone, Knight of the Principality of Monaco for cultural merits: “Throughout this article I am suggesting music fans to attend two events at first sight  extremely different: “Les Plages Electoniques Beach Festival” in Cannes – Cote d’Azur – France and the 2nd revival of the Neapolitan Song Festival “SanremocantaNapoli” in the close to Monaco city of Sanremo, West Liguria – Italy. I wish to say openly that these two events are not two detached worlds, as they are two worlds bound by the same feeling: emotion. While a modern electronic music listener may not be aware of the sonic echoes that resonated in the past and say: “Neapolitan music is boring; it is the past” he forgets that pop music has always acknowledged a great harmonic and melodic debt to its older across the centuries!”

So, save the dates 9-11 August and 24-28 September in your bucket list!

LES PLAGES ELECTRONIQUE BEACH FESTIVAL IN CANNES: from 09 August at 14.30 to 11 August 2019 at 23.55, this fourteen edition of “Les Plages Electroniques” is the result of a series of challenges and collaborations that the Allover production team and Panda Events have achieved together with M. David Lisnard, the city of Cannes, the Paca Region, the council of the Department, the Prefecture and sub-prefecture of the Maritime Alps and, of course, the Palais des Festivals prestige.

After a 13th edition that concluded a dense and beautiful 2018, «Les Plages Electroniques» is confirmed as the biggest musical event of the South-East of France both for the spectators’ attendance and for the size and importance of his artists, attracting festival fans from all over the world come to sway on the fine sand of this mythical place, the Festival Palace Roof and its famous staircase steps scenery.

After hosting headliners like Kygo, The Avener, Synapson, Amelie Lens, Kölsch, Sven Väth, Major Lazor, Dj Feder and many more, this 14th edition promises once again an original program! Les Plages Electroniques Festival is more than 36,000 audience attending for 3 days of celebration; 40,000mq of dance floor; 4 scene settings; 40 invited artists; an early opening at 2.30 p.m. to allow to access in time at a sandy beach and a temperate sea; a Village Festival with food trucks, beauty corner, chill out space, fun and animations, like 600 “beach men” in buoys for the biggest Red Bull Open Water Party in the region, and three after party until 5:30 a.m. in the Rotunda of the Palais des Festivals which is transformed for the occasion into an ephemeral club accommodating more than 3000 “beach fans” to continue the party until late.

Let’s not even forget the program that will characterize the 3 days: Friday 09Aug 2019 at 2:00 p.m.: Polo & Pan, Meute, Solomun, Maceo Plex (Maetrik), Onyvaa, Oxia Adriatic, Maya Jane Coles, Nicolas Masseyeff, and Dorian Craft. – Tickets from 37.5€ to 53 € – Beach scene: Adriatique – Solomun – Terrace Scene: Meute. For the due transparency three Very Important Persons who have their preferred singers in the competition, the Maestros Enzo CampagnoliAdriano Pennino and the Napolitean singer and actress Lucia Cassini couldn’t be part of the Quality Jury 2019.

One of the  most important news about this 2nd edition of “SanremoCantaNapoli” is that Michele Torpedine has decided to join the Team: the manager of many famous artists, like for instance the young tenors Trio named “Il Volo”, who are very popular worldwide also thanks to his assistance and wide experience in the field, will supervise the Song Competition. Also, Mr Torpedine will evaluate and choose some singers to be part of the 2021 Neapolitan Format, especially designed for the audience abroad!

The Festival will be animated by various side events, including the highly anticipated recital of the amazing singer of the Sixties Miranda Martino on Saturday at 9pm; the High Fashion Show that will tke place on the red carpet of the Casino staircase on Saturday at 5pm; Michele Torpedine will present his book “Ricomincio dai Tre” about “Il Volo” Trio on Thursday 25; a rich Farewell Aperitiv will follow on Friday 26 on invitation and registration like the evening that will close the Festival: the 2nd Grand Gala of the Neapolitan Song.

The Competition Festival “SanremoCantaNapoli” is looking for new sounds and new texts, but also scout some beautiful Neapolitan voices worth to get out of the regional boundaries, talents who otherwise risk being left in a purely regional context. On the contrary, we hope that for many of them this Festival Competition in Sanremo will remain not only a point of arrival, but also the start of a professional career of high national and international level. The Prizes: three scholarships of 1,000.00€ each to the three winners of equal merit, artistic works of the goldsmith Michele Affidato and beautiful paintings due to the international painter Gino Borlandi.

As in 2018 Gino Borlandi will donate some beautiful paintings

The Neapolitan Festival, never before organized in Italy, was born in Sanremo in 1932; carried on successfully until 1934, it was then revived twenty years later in Naples in 1954. But the formula of a few days competition did not suit Naples, whose unforgettable songs had always achieved success in the streets of the city to spread in the world since the early twentieth century. When in the seventies the national record market impacted with foreign music, it began to ignore the Neapolitan production. Italian singers had to learn English and Spanish to outbreak the international record markets.

Instead, in today’s global era the SanremoCantaNapoli Competition Festival wishes to continue researching and experimenting, conveying the language and style of two undisputed music capitals such as Sanremo and Naples worldwide.
