THE THIRD MONACO PORT OFFICIAL INAUGURATION IN VENTIMIGLIA

VENTIMIGLIA. Yesterday, 2 July 2021 the “Cala del Forte” official inauguration ceremony took place at 11,30 am. The new marina of Ventimiglia, owned by Monaco Ports has welcomed the arrival of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco on board Monaco One. Accompanied by the princes Jacques and Gabriella and by the daughter of Princess Stephanie, Camille Gottlieb, the Prince met the Marina’s top representatives on the new quay. Mr. Aleco Keusseoglou, President of Monaco Ports, Mr. Gian Battista Borea d’Olmo AD of Cala del Forte, Mr. Daniel Realini, construction coordinator and Mr. Marco Cornacchia, director of the port, together with the Ventimiglia Mayor Mr. Gaetano Scullino, and the President of the Liguria Region Mr. Giovanni Toti cheered their serene highnesses with immense pleasure. Monaco One is the aerodynamic high-speed shuttle service, operating between Port Hercule and Cala del Forte in just 15-minutes journey from port to port.

In observance of the rules for containing and fighting the spread of the pandemic, a very restricted list of participants was allowed to attend the ceremony.  There were owners of the boats moored in Cala del Forte and several owners of the numerous shops located throughout the commercial area of ​​the port. Anyway, the event was broadcasted live on the social media platforms of Cala del Forte Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Ventimiglia and its surroundings are one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northern Italy due to the exceptional weather conditions throughout the year. The second day of July was a beautiful sunny day, with a blue sky and a summer temperature mitigated by a light breeze. The event began with the institutional interventions of Mr. Aleco Keusseoglou, the Ventimiglia Mayor Mr. Gaetano Scullino, the President of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti and HSH Albert of Monaco.  It was followed by the blessing given by the Italian and Monegasque religious authorities. The ribbon cutting by HSH Albert II and the Ventimiglia mayor of Mr. Scullino took place in the best festive mood. The performance of the national anthems of the two nations accompanied the event towards its conclusion, while the moored boats paid homage to the ceremony with the traditional deafening sound of sirens. The heartfelt applause of the guests underlined once more the value of the long-awaited event that once again establishes the close link between the Principality and Ventimiglia, thanks to the vision of a S.A.S. Prince Albert II, who was the first to believe in and wanted this project. “Cala del Forte” official inauguration represents a strong signal of restart for the territory and for the whole region. In the early morning, HSH the Prince, always together with his children the Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella and niece Camille Gottlieb, inaugurated the rose garden of Princess Charlene of Monaco located in the west garden of Cala del Forte.
