By Ilio Masprone – Publisher – Knight of the Principality of Monaco for cultural merit

MONACO. Following the appeal of the Friends of Lebanon Monaco Association – Les Amis du Liban – we publish and forward the Press Release about the annual charity event “The Night of Lebanon” – “La Nuit du Liban” – by the Fondation Wazni that took place on September 26, 2021, under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

“Imagine: an evening placed under the sign of sharing and generosity! A moment both festive and generous to help those who need it most, in a friendly and joyful atmosphere. The annual event took place in the magnificent setting of the Yacht Club de Monaco, with the participation of our godmother Safia El Malqui and of our godfather Didier Deschamps, and many friends from Lebanon. The wonderful evening was due to the generosity of the Founder of the Fondation Wazni, Mr. Fadi Wazni. Our prestigious guests had the pleasure of tasting a Lebanese-inspired dinner prepared by the chef of Socrate, presented by Coco Makmak, a Franco-Lebanese comedian, who’s subtle humor elicited many giggles. The talented Lebanese violinist Hanine El Alam and her musicians also brightened up this beautiful moment, as did the magician and the freestyler who offered great moments to the donors present. The raffle was endowed with prestigious prizes offered by Monegasque traders. The art auction has been a big success under the hammer of Thomas Lefevre of the Study Frédéric LEFEVRE thanks to renowned artists such as Stéphane Cipre, GHASS, Marcos Marin, ZouilliArt and Catherine Lempereur, and to several pieces of high jewellery offered by Corpace Joaillerie, as well as a free Rolex watch by the house of fine watchmaking Arije

In addition, Mr. Didier Deschamps of  the same Association offered  a France National Soccer team jersey signed by all players, as well as a jeroboam of Or Addict champagne with a unique engraving depicting Lebanon. All the profits of the evening amounted to 156,000 € and will be used in favor of the Lebanese population and of our actions on the ground such as for example: the pursuit of academic support through our direct help to families and facilitating access to education thanks to our partnership with the Monegasque associations L’AMADE and Monaco Aide & Présence in order to continue to support the School of the Frères Saint-Joseph. We are also committed to continuing our actions in the field of health, alongside our long-standing partner, Rafic Hariri University Hospital, with which we are providing financial support to the families of children treated in the paediatric oncology service. As planned, we will intensify the monthly distribution of food parcels to families affected by the various crises facing Lebanon, as well as the assistance to people without access treatment for chronic illnesses. All these actions are made possible through a genuine expression of generosity of which we have been fortunate to benefit for almost 20 years. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, partners and donors.”
