Monte Carlo, 8 October 2025 — It was a morning filled with grace and symbolism at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. On October 6, inside the glittering Salon des Glaces, the French Republic paid tribute to two women who have, for decades, embodied Monaco’s sense of duty, compassion, and cultural spirit.
In the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, the French Ambassador to Monaco, His Excellency Jean d’Haussonville, conferred two of France’s highest distinctions.
Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover was elevated to the rank of Grand Cross in the National Order of Merit, while Her Serene Highness Princess Stéphanie was appointed Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour.
The atmosphere was both intimate and majestic. The gilded mirrors of the Salon des Glaces reflected not only the soft light of a Monegasque autumn morning but also the emotion of a moment steeped in history. Princess Caroline was accompanied by her sons, Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi, while Princess Stéphanie stood proudly with her children, Louis Ducruet and Camille Gottlieb — a beautiful image of family continuity, framed by the timeless elegance of the palace.
In his address, Ambassador d’Haussonville praised the two sisters for “their tireless commitment to culture, solidarity, and the friendship between France and Monaco.” His words resonated with sincerity, capturing the essence of a relationship that goes far beyond protocol.
Princess Caroline, 68, has long been one of Monaco’s most respected figures — patron of the arts, president of numerous cultural institutions, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The Grand Cross recognizes not only her distinguished career but also her deep connection to France, where she spent much of her youth and cultivated enduring ties with the cultural world.
Princess Stéphanie, 60, received the insignia of Officer of the Legion of Honour as a tribute to her humanitarian engagement. Through Fight Aids Monaco, which she founded more than 20 years ago, she has tirelessly supported those affected by HIV and championed inclusion, compassion, and dignity. Her path — unconventional, independent, deeply human — has earned her the admiration of many.
As the ceremony concluded, Prince Albert warmly embraced his sisters, visibly moved. It was a moment that went beyond honors and medals — a celebration of shared values and lifelong devotion to others.
Beyond the glitter of the palace, the event symbolized a bridge between two nations bound by history, geography, and friendship — and reminded everyone that service and compassion remain the truest forms of nobility.

Grazia, impegno e riconoscenza: la Francia onora le Principesse Caroline e Stéphanie al Palazzo del Principe
Monte Carlo, 8 ottobre 2025 — È stata una mattina intrisa di eleganza e significato quella del 6 ottobre al Palazzo del Principe di Monaco. Nel fastoso Salon des Glaces, tra specchi dorati e riflessi di luce autunnale, la Repubblica Francese ha voluto rendere omaggio a due donne che da anni rappresentano il cuore umano e culturale del Principato.
Alla presenza di S.A.S. il Principe Alberto II, l’Ambasciatore di Francia a Monaco, S.E. Jean d’Haussonville, ha consegnato due tra le più alte onorificenze francesi.
S.A.R. la Principessa Caroline di Hannover è stata elevata al grado di Gran Croce dell’Ordine nazionale al Merito, mentre S.A.S. la Principessa Stéphanie è stata nominata Ufficiale dell’Ordine nazionale della Legione d’Onore.
L’atmosfera, raccolta ma solenne, ha avuto il fascino delle grandi occasioni. Caroline, accompagnata dai figli Andrea e Pierre Casiraghi, e Stéphanie, affiancata da Louis Ducruet e Camille Gottlieb, hanno condiviso con discrezione un momento di profondo orgoglio familiare. Da sempre figura di riferimento per la vita culturale e filantropica del Principato, la Principessa Caroline — oggi 68enne — è presidente di numerose istituzioni artistiche, sostenitrice della Fondazione Princesse Grace e Ambasciatrice di buona volontà dell’UNESCO. Il titolo di Gran Croce premia una carriera di servizio, ma anche un profondo legame con la Francia, dove ha trascorso parte della giovinezza.
La Principessa Stéphanie, 60 anni, è stata invece insignita dell’onorificenza di Ufficiale della Legione d’Onore per il suo impegno nel sociale. Con la sua associazione Fight Aids Monaco, da oltre vent’anni combatte contro l’HIV e promuove l’inclusione e la dignità umana. Il suo percorso, indipendente e sincero, ha toccato il cuore di molti.
Alla fine della cerimonia, il Principe Alberto ha abbracciato le sorelle con tenerezza. È stato un momento familiare e profondo, che andava oltre le decorazioni: un riconoscimento al valore dell’impegno quotidiano, alla forza dell’affetto e alla nobiltà d’animo.
Oltre il luccichio dei riflessi e l’eleganza delle divise, questo evento ha ricordato che la vera grandezza non sta nei titoli, ma nella dedizione con cui si serve la comunità.
