Monaco, October 15, 2025 — Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène presided over the inauguration of the new Société Monégasque de l’Électricité et du Gaz (SMEG) headquarters, now officially named the Immeuble SMEG. The ceremony, held in the presence of Mr. Thomas Battaglione, CEO of SMEG, government officials, and numerous Monegasque dignitaries, marked a historic milestone for the company celebrating its 135th anniversarythis year.
Rising over 10 floors and covering 12,000 square meters, the new building embodies Monaco’s vision for sustainability, innovation, and urban efficiency. It will house SMEG’s teams, private tenants, and several government departments, further strengthening the company’s role in the Principality’s energy transition.
More than 35 years after the first SMEG inauguration—presided over by Prince Rainier III, accompanied by the then Hereditary Prince Albert—this new chapter carries both emotional and symbolic weight. It stands as a bridge between Monaco’s industrial heritage and its commitment to a smarter, greener future.

Un’inaugurazione reale: il Principe Alberto II e la Principessa Charlène inaugurano la nuova sede della SMEG
Monaco, 15 ottobre 2025 — Le Loro Altezze Serenissime il Principe Alberto II e la Principessa Charlène hanno inaugurato la nuova sede della Société Monégasque de l’Électricité et du Gaz (SMEG), ora ufficialmente denominata Immeuble SMEG. La cerimonia si è svolta alla presenza di Thomas Battaglione, Amministratore Direttore Generale della SMEG, di membri del Governo del Principe e di numerose personalità monegasche.
Con i suoi 10 piani e una superficie di 12.000 metri quadrati, il nuovo edificio rappresenta un passo fondamentale nella storia dell’azienda, che celebra quest’anno il suo 135° anniversario. La struttura accoglierà i team della SMEG, locatari privati e alcuni servizi governativi, riflettendo la volontà del Principato di coniugare efficienza energetica, innovazione e sostenibilità.
A più di 35 anni dalla prima inaugurazione — presieduta dal Principe Ranieri III insieme al giovane Principe Ereditario Alberto — questa nuova tappa assume un forte valore storico e simbolico, testimoniando la continuità dell’impegno di Monaco per un futuro più moderno e responsabile.
