MONACO. From 1st to 3rd May 2020 the Grimaldi Forum Monaco at 10, Av. Princesse Grace will host the fifth edition of ARTMONTE-CARLO in the beautiful area of the Espace Ravel. Under the High Patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II de Monaco, artmonte-carlo is an art exhibition that aims to establish an artistic platform on the Côte d’Azur. It is at the very forefront of contemporary art, modern art and design and wishes to pay homage to the requirements of the region’s numerous collectors and art-lovers. In the same spirit as artgenève, artmonte-carlo showcases a collection of works from leading international galleries against an immaculate backdrop.
The exhibition is enhanced by institutional exhibitions and by a professional Forum. This unique configuration promotes a dialogue between the art market and the institutional field. “Furthermore, the two exhibitions, one which opens the annual European contemporary art fair calendar in mid-winter in Switzerland and the other which begins the summer season in Monaco, unite two key European centers that are home to many art lovers and collectors.” said Thomas Hug, director of artmonte-carlo.
The success of the 2019 exibition that took place from 26 to 28 April 2019 was also due to the quality of the exhibitors. Special exhibitions like Sail and Boat, Alligator and Mickey Mouse watching the world passing presented by Anna Boghiguian, the Silvia Fiorucci Roman collection, the Barclays Bank show curated by furiosa, Face to Face, the sculpture curated show by Muzeum Sztuki named Spiritual Reality – your thoughts save place, the emblematic Riva Tunnel, the Ruffles by Zoe Williams, and Les Modes, Permanent Ephemera of Wang Du, also contributed to the 2019 success of artmonate-carlo.

The Forum was focused on Imagining the Future: Contemporary Art Prizes in the 21st Century; Challenges and Opportunities in Awarding Excellence in the Arts; Criss Cross art institutions in dialogue; Art talks. artmonte-carlo forum is an international platform dedicated to thought production, collaborations and exchanges. Complementing the gallery space, it brings together art professionals and thinkers to discuss and imagine common projects. This space invite people to share ideas, socialize and network, whilst enjoying the view on the Mediterranean Sea. It is under the patronage of Madame Beatrice Casiraghi, Ambassador of the Forum. We add that artmonte-carlo takes place beyond the five days of the fair. All year round, artmonte-carlo happens through a number of different international events in a variety of institutions and art spaces, like solo shows, l’esplanade, la verrière, artgenève/musique, design curated, contemporary art on private boats, art talks & performances, la nuit blanche.
In 2020 The Salon d’Art of the Côte d’Azur artmonte-carlo enhances its artistic programming, expanding its activity The new edition of artmonte-carlo, which will take place from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2020 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and the direction of Thomas Hug, will welcome minimun an estimated count of 100-500 new prestigious exibitors. artmonte-carlo will be connected to PAD Monaco by a new section of 10 monographic exhibitions presented by galleries, each featuring one artist. Like in 2019, the Prix Solo artmontecarlo – F.P.Journe will be awarded to the best solo exhibition by an institutional jury. The prestigious watchmaker F.P.Journe will acquire a work by the award-winning artist, which will then be donated to the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco.
Curated shows will welcome visitors at the entrance of the Salon in the luminous Verrière of the Grimaldi Forum. As always, Hors-les-murs and thanks to the collaboration of artmonte-carlo and Monaco Boat Service, the emblematic Tunnel Riva at Port Hercule will host an artistic installation. In fact, artmonte-carlo also takes place outside the Grimaldi Forum, allowing art to be federated and circulated throughout the Principality at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, at Villa Sauber, and at the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Resort. Finally, artmonte-carlo will partner with several artistic organizations, as well as the Pavillon Bosio, Monaco’s Fine Art school and Le Logoscope, a laboratory for multi-media artistic research.
artmonte-carlo / The Forum: artmonte-carlo will continue to develop its Forum with a Symposium promoted by the Fondation Prince Pierre de Monaco.
Other partners promote solidarity, knowledge and collaborative practices in different disciplines. Public and private foundations, art centers and other organizations that promote and develop their professional networks, will be held for the second time in parallel of the Salon.
