This section suggests that Chanel’s style was not only a public revolution but also a deeply private search for balance, beauty, and freedom.
Fashion meets modern art
The exhibition brings together more than 200 works: about thirty original Chanel pieces displayed alongside paintings, photographs, and sculptures by leading modernists. A special dialogue closes the show with contemporary sculptor Chloé Royer, whose bronzes and glass figures re-imagine femininity, echoing the spirit of liberation Chanel embodied.

La Riviera sotto il sole – la nascita dell’eleganza moderna
Il percorso inizia con le creazioni in jersey e i completi da spiaggia che hanno rivoluzionato il modo di vestire delle donne. Comodi, eleganti e sobri, questi capi incarnano la libertà dei primi viaggi, dei pomeriggi in riva al mare e di una femminilità finalmente senza costrizioni. La luce che entra dalle grandi finestre di Villa Paloma accompagna idealmente questa trasformazione, richiamando l’atmosfera delle boutique di Deauville, Monte-Carlo e Biarritz.
Teatro, arte e suggestioni slave – un mondo in movimento
Salendo al secondo piano, la scena diventa più vivace e teatrale. Qui sono esposti i costumi realizzati da Chanel per i Balletti Russi e per Le Train Bleu, accanto a bozzetti, fotografie e opere di amici e collaboratori come Cocteau, Picasso e Stravinsky. Qui si percepisce la ricerca personale di armonia e libertà che ha accompagnato ogni sua creazione.
Moda e arte moderna in dialogo
Con oltre 200 opere, tra abiti originali, dipinti, fotografie e sculture, la mostra mette Chanel a confronto con i grandi protagonisti dell’arte modernista. Il percorso si chiude con le opere contemporanee di Chloé Royer, che attraverso bronzo e vetro interpreta la femminilità in chiave nuova, proiettando lo spirito di Chanel nel presente.
