McLaren, usually one of the strongest forces of the 2026 season, faced a more complicated Friday. Oscar Piastri ended the session seventh, while Lando Norris was affected by technical issues that limited his running. The Woking team will now need to analyse the data carefully ahead of qualifying, where Monaco’s unforgiving nature leaves no room for mistakes.
For Ferrari, however, Monte Carlo has started in the best possible way. The Principality has always rewarded confidence, precision and mechanical balance — three elements that appeared to suit the SF-26 perfectly from the very first laps.
As the paddock prepares for the decisive qualifying session, one thing is already clear: Monaco has welcomed Ferrari back to centre stage. Hamilton and Leclerc have sent a strong signal, but with Verstappen, Mercedes and McLaren waiting, the battle for the front row promises to be one of the most intense moments of the season.

Le strade di Monte Carlo hanno nuovamente accolto il weekend più iconico della Formula 1 e la prima giornata del Gran Premio di Monaco 2026 ha lanciato un messaggio molto chiaro: la Ferrari è arrivata nel Principato con tutte le carte in regola per essere la squadra da battere.
Dopo il miglior tempo conquistato da Charles Leclerc nella prima sessione di prove libere, la Ferrari ha confermato il proprio stato di forma anche nelle FP2, dove è stato Lewis Hamilton a chiudere davanti a tutti. Le due SF-26 hanno dominato la classifica, dimostrando una grande capacità di adattamento alle curve lente e ai tratti più tecnici del circuito monegasco.
Il giro di Hamilton in 1:13.026 gli ha permesso di precedere il compagno di squadra di appena 111 millesimi, regalando alla Scuderia una doppietta che accende le aspettative in vista del resto del weekend. A Monaco più che altrove, fiducia, precisione e ritmo sono fondamentali: entrambi i piloti Ferrari sono sembrati immediatamente a proprio agio tra i muretti del Principato.

Più complicato invece l’inizio del weekend per la Mercedes, con George Russell quarto e Kimi Antonelli quinto. La squadra di Brackley è rimasta comunque vicina ai leader, ma sembra ancora alla ricerca del massimo livello di fiducia necessario per sfiorare i muretti e spremere ogni dettaglio dalla monoposto.
La McLaren, una delle grandi protagoniste della stagione 2026, ha vissuto una giornata più difficile rispetto alle aspettative. Oscar Piastri ha chiuso settimo, mentre Lando Norris è stato condizionato da problemi tecnici che hanno limitato il suo lavoro in pista. Il team di Woking dovrà ora analizzare attentamente i dati raccolti in vista della qualifica, il momento più importante del weekend monegasco.
