Luxury has always been associated with Formula 1, and racing just became even more fashionable as the world’s second-largest luxury group, Kering, entered the Alpine paddock. Gucci is set to become the first title partner of the team, which will be known as the Gucci Racing Alpine Formula One Team beginning in 2027.
In addition to the announcement made earlier this week, there has also been speculation that Alpine’s current bright pink livery could be retired for the upcoming season, with the logo of long-time sponsor BWT potentially being replaced by that of the iconic Italian fashion house.
In reality, the news comes as little surprise, especially following last year’s sponsorship agreement between Formula 1 and LVMH, Kering’s main competitor. The ten-year partnership also involves several brands from the Louis Vuitton group, including Moët Hennessy for podium celebrations and Tag Heuer as the sport’s official timekeeper, replacing Rolex.
The relationship between luxury and Formula 1 stretches back decades. Moët & Chandon champagne, now part of the LVMH portfolio, has been an official presence on and around the podium since 1950, the year the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship season took place.

The world’s largest luxury conglomerate has since deepened its involvement in the championship through initiatives such as the creation of the Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk, designed to house the winner’s trophy, and by lending its name to some of the sport’s most prestigious events, including the Formula One Louis Vuitton Monaco Grand Prix 2026, further reinforcing the connection between Formula 1 and luxury.
The relationship between luxury and sport appears to be evolving in increasingly positive ways, benefiting both industries. Formula 1, in particular, continues to attract larger and younger audiences around the world. And now, with fashion powerhouses LVMH and Kering becoming ever more involved in the championship, the world of motorsport has gained an extra touch of glamour and prestige.
