Breath-taking panoramas and cinematic views: these are the two main features of Villa la Colombaia in Forio d’Ischia,which was once home to one of the most celebrated figures in Italian cinema, Luchino Visconti.
The director’s residence is set to become a canvas of art once again, weaving nostalgic memories together with new stories. From November 3 to 6, 2026, to mark the 120th anniversary of Visconti’s birth, the venue will serve as more than just a cinematic backdrop; it will transform into a stage hosting the voices of those who live and create cinema every day,thanks to the tribute program: “120 YEARS OF VISCONTI – SPECIAL FRAME 2026”.
Specifically, on November 3 and 4, the villa will welcome an exceptional host: Francesco Di Leva. The two-time David di Donatello winner will guide two distinguished conversations with key figures in Italian cinema and theater, Alessandro Preziosi and Lino Musella, over the course of the two days.
The initiative aims to foster dialogue and a shared reflection on the secrets of the craft and the fine line between the silver screen and the stage.
The session on November 3 opens at 4:30 PM with Alessandro Preziosi and his talk, “The Art of Becoming a Character”, an exploration into the origins of performance and the search for balance between film and theater.
On November 4 at 4:30 PM, Lino Musella will take the stage with “The Scene, the Word, the Actor”, a discussion centered on the spoken word and the concept of theater as a realm for experimentation.
In addition to the talks, throughout all four days of the event, visitors can attend screenings of six iconic films featured in the film retrospective “Visconti for Visconti”.
Furthermore, high school students will have the opportunity to participate in workshops organized in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples (ABANA).
The event will conclude on November 6 with a special session dedicated to the work “Mario and the Magician”, connecting literature and music, and capped off by the evening event “Frequency Island – Nightfall”.
Supported by the Campania Region Film Commission Foundation, the Goethe-Institut, and Federalberghi Ischia, the initiative highlights the commitment of the Municipal Administration of Forio—led by Mayor Stanislao Verde and Culture Councilor Davide Laezza—to restore Villa La Colombaia to its role as an international cultural beacon capable of speaking to both great masters and new generations.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Annamaria Punzo, with Gennaro Bianco coordinating the sessions and architect Giampiero Lamonica, head of the 5th Department – Cultural Heritage of the Municipality of Forio, serving as Sole Project Manager.

Panorami mozzafiato e scorci cinematografici: sono queste le due caratteristiche principali di Villa La Colombaia, a Forio d’Ischia, che fu un tempo la residenza di una delle figure più celebri del cinema italiano, Luchino Visconti.
La dimora del regista si prepara a tornare a essere una tela d’arte, intrecciando ricordi nostalgici e nuove storie. Dal 3 al 6 novembre 2026, in occasione del 120° anniversario della nascita di Visconti, la villa sarà molto più di una semplice cornice cinematografica: si trasformerà in un palcoscenico pronto ad accogliere le voci di chi il cinema lo vive e lo crea ogni giorno, grazie al programma celebrativo “120 YEARS OF VISCONTI – SPECIAL FRAME 2026”.
In particolare, il 3 e il 4 novembre, la villa ospiterà un presentatore d’eccezione: Francesco Di Leva. Il due volte vincitore del David di Donatello guiderà due prestigiosi incontri con protagonisti del cinema e del teatro italiano, Alessandro Preziosi e Lino Musella, nel corso delle due giornate.
L’iniziativa si propone di favorire il dialogo e una riflessione condivisa sui segreti del mestiere e sul sottile confine tra grande schermo e palcoscenico.
L’appuntamento del 3 novembre si aprirà alle ore 16:30 con Alessandro Preziosi e il suo intervento dal titolo “The Art of Becoming a Character”, un approfondimento sulle origini della recitazione e sulla ricerca di un equilibrio tra cinema e teatro.
Il 4 novembre, sempre alle ore 16:30, sarà invece Lino Musella a salire sul palco con “The Scene, the Word, the Actor”, un incontro incentrato sulla parola recitata e sul concetto di teatro come spazio di sperimentazione.
Oltre agli incontri, durante tutte e quattro le giornate della manifestazione, i visitatori potranno assistere alla proiezione di sei film iconici inseriti nella rassegna cinematografica “Visconti for Visconti”.
Gli studenti delle scuole superiori avranno inoltre l’opportunità di partecipare a laboratori organizzati in collaborazione con l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli (ABANA).
L’evento si concluderà il 6 novembre con un appuntamento speciale dedicato all’opera “Mario e il mago”, che metterà in dialogo letteratura e musica, per poi culminare con l’evento serale “Frequency Island – Nightfall”.
Sostenuta dalla Fondazione Film Commission Regione Campania, dal Goethe-Institut e da Federalberghi Ischia, l’iniziativa sottolinea l’impegno dell’Amministrazione comunale di Forio – guidata dal sindaco Stanislao Verde e dall’assessore alla Cultura Davide Laezza – nel restituire a Villa La Colombaia il ruolo di faro culturale internazionale, capace di dialogare tanto con i grandi maestri quanto con le nuove generazioni.
La direzione artistica è affidata ad Annamaria Punzo, con Gennaro Bianco nel ruolo di coordinatore degli incontri e l’architetto Giampiero Lamonica, responsabile del V Settore – Patrimonio Culturale del Comune di Forio, in qualità di Responsabile Unico del Progetto.
