La figura del cioccolataio(ci scusi la categoria) il Casino l’ha fatta, per aver annullato un evento importante per soli 15.000 Euro di investimento dal momento che sventolano che stanno incassando un sacco di soldi (e poi danno 50.000 Euro per il Padel di Piazza Colombo!). La notizia della figuraccia sta facendo il giro anche delle case da gioco: da Saint Vincent a Venezia a Campione d’Italia, gli altri Casino che stanno andando bene. Ma sta interessando anche il semplice cittadino intelligente che ama la musica napoletana, visto che SanremoCantaNapoli esprime, pardon esprimeva, il meglio della “nuova” linfa musicale proveniente dal Vesuvio. A livello sanremese se ne parla dietro le quinte, a livello politico comincia a farsi strada l’ipotesi di un possibile recupero, ma è presto per capire come potrebbe finire. Chi tace è parte dell’Informazione che preferisce non esprimersi perché non è poi così libera di dire come la pensa, per cui non corre il rischio di imbrigliarsi in faccende che potrebbero finire addirittura in Penale. La conclusione è questa: il 23 scorso al Casino si sono festeggiati i 2500 anni della nascita di Napoli. Nei consueti Martedì Letterari doveva essere abbinata, il giorno dopo, la finale della quintaedizione del concorso SanremoCantaNapoli. Non è stato così perché una parte del Cda è contrario agli eventi partenopei, oppure per questioni personali che prima o poi verranno a galla? Tutto questo mentre i mugugni di Palazzo Bellevue, che abbiamo annunciato mesi fa, si stanno concretizzando: la Giunta pare sia in pericolo e il SindacoMagercomincia a perdere i pezzi: la gestione del Casinò fa acqua da più parti, le nuove Infrastrutture non vanno avanti, il Turismo commette errori e più di un Assessore ha voglia di fare marcia indietro. C’è da chiedersi se dietro non ci sia la lunga mano di Alberto Biancheri, l’ex Sindaco raggiante perché i suoi consigli non sono stati ascoltati a suo tempo.

The Casino has made quite a blunder, canceling an important event for just €15,000 of investment, while at the same time boasting about how much money they’re making (and then spending €50,000 on the Padel tournament in Piazza Colombo!). Word of this embarrassment is spreading among other casinos as well: from Saint Vincent to Venice to Campione d’Italia, the other casinos that are doing well. But the matter is also attracting the attention of ordinary, discerning citizens who love Neapolitan music, since SanremoCantaNapoli represented—or rather, used to represent—the very best of the “new” musical energy coming from Mount Vesuvius.
In Sanremo, the matter is being discussed behind the scenes; in political circles, the idea of a possible recovery is beginning to take shape, though it is too soon to tell how it might end. Meanwhile, the press remains silent, preferring not to express itself because it is not entirely free to say what it thinks, and so avoids the risk of getting entangled in issues that could even end up in criminal proceedings.
The conclusion is this: on the 23rd, the Casino celebrated the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Naples. As part of the traditional “Martedì Letterari” (Literary Tuesdays), the final of the fifth edition of the SanremoCantaNapoli competition was supposed to take place the following day. That didn’t happen—was it because part of the board opposes Neapolitan events, or due to personal matters that will eventually come to light?
All of this is unfolding while the grumblings from Palazzo Bellevue, which we reported months ago, are now becoming reality: the City Council seems to be in jeopardy and Mayor Mager is beginning to lose support. The Casino’s management is leaking from all sides, new infrastructure projects are stalled, the tourism sector is making mistakes, and more than one councilor is considering stepping back. One has to wonder whether the long hand of former Mayor Alberto Biancheri is behind it all—he is now beaming, since his advice was not heeded at the time.
