It was 1958 when this song was climbing the Italian music charts. Saint-Tropez was transforming into one of the favourite destinations of the international jet set and, we can state with certainty, nothing has changed over the years, because if there is one glamorous destination to spend the summer holidays, it is precisely the French Riviera.

What changes, and why not, returns, are trends. Today, the girl in the song would no longer dance the twist, nor would she wear a lamé dress, even though a nod to that retro style seems to be present… so, what are the luxury trends for this summer 2026? Take a pen and notebook—pardon, that is far too old-fashioned—open the notes app on your phone, because we are about to receive some genuine style tips from the girl-next-door, a young sciura from the centre of Milan who has decided to spend her holidays on the French Riviera. Nothing could be more iconic.
The starting point must, of course, be the suitcase. What to pack? Let us take a literal dive into the past because, for luxury beachwear, ultra-high-waisted bikinis with balconette tops are back; take a look at swimwear by Zimmermann or the niche brand Oséree. If we then want to talk about Body Couture, the one-piece swimsuit is an absolute must, whether it is one-shoulder, with deep plunging necklines, or a trikini. The go-to fashion houses are certainly Eres, with its Parisian savoir-faire, and Missoni, whose creations are timeless.

Naturally, a young sciura is always ready for sunset drinks on the beach, so she prepares various resortwear options—more commonly known as beach cover-ups—designed for a seamless beach-to-bar transition. The keyword is Caftan, just as Marta Marzotto taught us. Wonderful are those by Loro Piana in Angola linen or in a silk-cotton blend fabric. For more Provençal vibes, we can drop by Jacquemus, which offers sarongs to be worn as skirts: just tie a knot at the waist and et voilà, les jeux sont faits. There are also retro references from the brand Casablanca, which offers silk co-ords with geometric patterns that recall the style of 1960s cinema, specifically set on the French Riviera.
Necklaces, lots of necklaces to mix and match. Coral and turquoise, beads and seashells, playing with accessories on a monochromatic and minimalist look to give it that extra touch. Raffia bags are also indispensable: the one by Celine is simply iconic, but those by Marni – Tropicalia – are absolutely delightful and available in various sizes. However, if you are a lover of quiet luxury, the best ones remain those without a logo and, naturally, handmade.
As for the destination, our young sciura has chosen Cap d’Antibes. An exclusive peninsula where she can relive those retro F. Scott Fitzgerald vibes; by the way, the writer himself stayed at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, which features a nine-hectare park, private villas, and a Michelin-starred restaurant, Louroc. For this year, the iconic Plage Keller has relocated to Cannes, creating a real hype. It is worth remembering that expansion and redevelopment works are currently underway near La Garoupe, with a view to true Eco-Luxury. No more concrete, but stretches of sand with low-environmental-impact structures. Therefore, the most coveted beach club of the year will surely be the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel: the perfect combination that offers an elite experience, yet devoid of obsolete formalism.
A holiday, as we know, is also made of activities. Guided snorkelling excursions are highly trendy, and what better place than the marine park located right in this area? For the more curious, it is possible to book guided tours directly with marine biologists. Moving inland, however, the young sciura will dedicate herself to one of her passions: perfumes. And so, how could we not mention Grasse, where this year the Maison Fragonard celebrates its centenary? For the occasion, the fashion house has decided to develop an entire dedicated line, L’Air de Grasse. Jasmine, mandarin, and iris are just some of the flowers that make up the bouquet of this new essence. But that is not all, because by purchasing a 50 ml bottle, it is possible to find a Golden Ticket that allows you to redeem exclusive prizes—what do you think about a perfumery course? Très, très chic.

After all, today true luxury is wearing a unique, non-commercial fragrance, one that blends with your person to the point of creating an association with that specific scent. Thus, we notice a focus on experiential yet conscious luxury; a luxury that, when worn, remains quiet, even if it plays at being loud with colours and volumes. Now everything is ready for our young sciura, and all that is left for us to do is to wish her Bon Voyage!

“A St. Tropez
Bon Voyage!
