A major cultural event at the crossroads of heritage, history and motor sport
This summer, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco will host an exceptional exhibition tracing the unique relationship that has united the Principality and the automobile for more than a century: “Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the Present Day”. The exhibition is curated by Rodolphe Rapetti, Chief Heritage Curator and recognised specialist in automotive museography, notably responsible for the exhibition “The Art of the Automobile – Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection,” which attracted more than 150,000 visitors in Paris in 2011.
Never before has an exhibition of this scale devoted to the automobile been organised in the Principality. Originally scheduled for the summer of 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, this long-awaited event finally takes place. Spanning 3,500 m², the exhibition will bring together around fifty emblematic vehicles, including more than 20 cars that won the Monaco Grand Prix or the Monte-Carlo Rally, alongside items from the Princely Family and previously unseen archives from the Automobile Club de Monaco.
130 years of automotive history
A true journey through time, the event will evoke elegance competitions, major official and sporting events, as well as the automobile as a work of art in its own right. Alongside the exceptional vehicles, visitors will discover a selection of objects, documents, photographs and videos – some previously unseen – illustrating the close relationship between Monaco and the automobile.
From the Monte-Carlo Rally (founded in 1911) to the post-war elegance competitions and including the Monaco Grand Prix (held since 1929), a vast historical panorama will be presented thanks to the unwavering support of the Automobile Club de Monaco, which has generously opened its archives to the Grimaldi Forum.
An emotionally engaging visit for both adults and children
From July 6th to July 17th, children of all ages will have the opportunity to attend exceptional workshops, one for each day of the week. Activities include creating their own Formula 1 cars and learning their different parts, and games focused on road safety to learn about traffic signs. The creations will be displayed in the lobby of the Grimaldi Forum.
Located in the Ravel Hall, the exhibition will be open from July 1st to September 6th every day (exceptionally closed on August 22th) from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm – evening visits on Thursdays until 10:00 pm. Un grande evento culturale al crocevia tra patrimonio, storia e sport automobilistico
Quest’estate, il Grimaldi Forum Monaco ospiterà una mostra eccezionale che ripercorre il legame unico che unisce il Principato e l’automobile da oltre un secolo: “Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the Present Day”. La mostra è curata da Rodolphe Rapetti, Conservatore Capo del Patrimonio e riconosciuto specialista in museografia automobilistica, noto in particolare per aver curato la mostra “The Art of the Automobile – Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection”, che attirò oltre 150.000 visitatori a Parigi nel 2011.
Mai prima d’ora nel Principato era stata organizzata una mostra di tale portata dedicata all’automobile. Originariamente prevista per l’estate 2020 e rinviata a causa della pandemia, questo attesissimo evento vede finalmente la luce. Su una superficie di 3.500 m², l’esposizione riunirà circa cinquanta veicoli emblematici, tra cui oltre 20 automobili vincitrici del Monaco Grand Prix o del Monte-Carlo Rally, insieme a oggetti appartenenti alla Famiglia Principesca e ad archivi inediti dell’Automobile Club de Monaco.
130 anni di storia dell’automobile
Un vero viaggio nel tempo, l’evento evocherà concorsi d’eleganza, grandi manifestazioni ufficiali e sportive, nonché l’automobile come autentica opera d’arte. Accanto ai veicoli eccezionali, i visitatori scopriranno una selezione di oggetti, documenti, fotografie e video – alcuni dei quali mai esposti prima – che illustrano il rapporto privilegiato tra Monaco e l’automobile.
Dal Monte-Carlo Rally (fondato nel 1911) ai concorsi d’eleganza del dopoguerra, passando per il Monaco Grand Prix(organizzato dal 1929), sarà presentato un vasto panorama storico grazie al costante supporto dell’Automobile Club de Monaco, che ha generosamente aperto i propri archivi al Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
Una visita coinvolgente ed emozionante per adulti e bambini
Dal 6 al 17 luglio, bambini di tutte le età avranno l’opportunità di partecipare a workshop eccezionali, uno per ogni giorno della settimana. Le attività includono la creazione della propria auto di Formula 1 e la scoperta delle sue diverse componenti, oltre a giochi dedicati alla sicurezza stradale per imparare il significato dei segnali stradali. Le creazioni saranno esposte nella hall del Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
Situata nella Salle Ravel, la mostra sarà aperta dal 1° luglio al 6 settembre tutti i giorni (eccezionalmente chiusa il 22 agosto) dalle 10:00 alle 20:00, con aperture serali il giovedì fino alle 22:00.
