On May 28, 2026, the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the Principality of Monaco was inaugurated at the Galerie Charles III. The initiative represents a further step in strengthening relations between Ukraine and the Principality, which, since the beginning of the conflict, has maintained a consistent position of support for the country.
This commitment was reaffirmed even after Monaco assumed the Presidency of the Council of Europe, during which the priorities of the Monegasque agenda were reiterated—strongly focused on the protection of human rights—and which saw the Principality participate, on May 15, in the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine by Russia.
At the head of the Consulate has been appointed Alexandre Caracchini, entrepreneur and founder of Red White Group, a company active in real estate development and investment consultancy.
Already established in the Principality since 2017, he has progressively strengthened his ties with Monaco through initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the identity of the Monegasque territory.
Two lines of action define the Consulate’s mission: on the one hand, the local dimension, with a strong commitment at the community level; on the other, international initiatives aimed at supporting and promoting projects for Ukraine.
Within this framework is an interview with the Honorary Consul, who outlined the objectives, projects, and strategic vision of the Consulate in both the short and long term.
Which aspect of Ukrainian culture do you believe is still the least known?
Two areas are particularly close to my heart: architecture and gastronomy.
On the artistic level, few people know that Ukraine possesses one of the richest decorative arts traditions in Europe—from vyshyvanka embroidery to Kosiv ceramics, and the constructivist school of Kharkiv in the 1920s, which preceded and influenced the Bauhaus. This is not a country that merely endured history: it is a country that has also shaped it artistically.
But Ukrainian cuisine is perhaps even less known. Beyond borscht, which everyone mentions, there is a gastronomy of extraordinary richness and refinement: varenyky, salo, seasonal soups, ritual breads such as korovai—a cuisine deeply rooted in its territories and traditions.
It is precisely for this reason that I am particularly proud to announce that a renowned Ukrainian chef will soon arrive in Monaco to collaborate with the chef of the Café de Paris, with the aim of creating a gastronomic experience capable of showcasing the very best of Ukrainian cuisine in one of the Principality’s most iconic venues. This is exactly the kind of initiative I wish to multiply: bringing two cultures into dialogue through what is most alive and generous in them.
What initiatives are planned within “Les Amis de l’Ukraine”?
Several concrete projects are already being prepared, and I am pleased to announce some of them.
First, the creation of a Ukrainian school in Monaco, a project that is fundamental to me. For Ukrainian families living in the Principality, being able to offer their children an education in the Ukrainian language, rooted in their culture and history, is an absolute priority: it is an act of identity preservation as well as education.
Second, we are working on the organization of a sporting event centered on rugby, with the participation of Ukrainian teams. Sport is a powerful vehicle for visibility and fraternity, and rugby, a sport of values par excellence, deeply reflects the spirit of resilience that characterizes Ukraine today.
Naturally, other initiatives are also being prepared—cultural, gastronomic, and artistic ones—which will be announced in due course. The guiding idea remains the same: to show a living, creative, and proud Ukraine, not only a Ukraine at war.
Beyond the association, how does the Consulate intend to structure the Ukrainian community?
The Consulate primarily represents an institutional point of reference, which is precisely what was previously missing.
Concretely, we are working on the creation of a registry of Ukrainians residing in the Principality and along the Côte d’Azur, the establishment of direct communication channels, and the signing of agreements with local service providers to facilitate everyday administrative procedures.
The goal is clear: to move from a dispersed community to one that is visible, connected, and proud of being so.
At what stage are Ukraine’s reconstruction projects
We are currently in a phase of structuring partnerships. Several discussions are underway with stakeholders in the energy and real estate sectors, particularly around the concept of smart cities, integrating from the outset standards of energy efficiency and resilience.
My conviction is clear: waiting for the end of the conflict would be a strategic mistake. Projects funded and planned today will be the first to be implemented tomorrow. Monaco, with its network of family offices and institutional investors, can play a concrete role in this process.
Overall, the action launched by the Honorary Consulate reflects the image of a project that looks to the future with determination, combining concrete initiatives and strategic vision.
In a context marked by profound complexity, the role of the Consul is exercised with awareness and a sense of responsibility, in the desire to build lasting bridges between Ukraine and the Principality of Monaco.
Although the mandate is only just beginning, the lines already drawn suggest significant developments ahead: not only for the Ukrainian community in Monaco, but also for the contribution that Monaco may, over time, offer to Ukraine’s path of renewal.

Il 28 maggio 2026 è stato inaugurato il Consolato Onorario dell’Ucraina nel Principato di Monaco presso la Galerie Charles III. L’iniziativa rappresenta un ulteriore passo nel consolidamento dei rapporti tra l’Ucraina e il Principato, che fin dall’inizio del conflitto ha mantenuto una posizione costante di sostegno nei confronti del Paese.
Questo impegno è stato confermato anche dopo l’assunzione da parte di Monaco della Presidenza del Consiglio d’Europa, durante la quale sono state ribadite le priorità dell’agenda monegasca, fortemente orientata alla tutela dei diritti umani, e che ha visto il Principato partecipare, lo scorso 15 maggio, all’istituzione del Tribunale Speciale per il crimine di aggressione contro l’Ucraina da parte della Russia.
Alla guida del Consolato è stato nominato Alexandre Caracchini, imprenditore e fondatore di Red White Group, società attiva nello sviluppo immobiliare e nella consulenza per gli investimenti.
Figura già radicata nel Principato dal 2017, ha progressivamente consolidato il proprio legame con Monaco attraverso iniziative e progetti volti a valorizzare l’identità del territorio monegasco.
Due linee di intervento delineano l’azione del Consolato: da un lato la dimensione locale, con un forte impegno sul piano comunitario; dall’altro le iniziative di respiro internazionale, finalizzate a sostenere e promuovere progetti per l’Ucraina.
In questo contesto si inserisce l’intervista al Console onorario, che ha illustrato obiettivi, progetti e visione strategica del Consolato nel breve e lungo periodo.
Quale aspetto della cultura ucraina ritiene sia ancora il meno conosciuto?
Due ambiti mi stanno particolarmente a cuore: l’architettura e la gastronomia.
Sul piano artistico, pochi sanno che l’Ucraina possiede una delle tradizioni di arti decorative più ricche d’Europa: dai ricami vyshyvanka alle ceramiche di Kosiv, fino alla scuola costruttivista di Kharkiv degli anni Venti, che ha preceduto e influenzato il Bauhaus. Non si tratta di un Paese che ha semplicemente subito la storia: è un Paese che l’ha anche plasmata artisticamente.
Ma la cucina ucraina è forse ancora meno conosciuta. Oltre al borsch, che tutti citano, esiste una gastronomia di straordinaria ricchezza e raffinatezza: varenyky, salo, zuppe stagionali, pani rituali come il korovai, una cucina profondamente radicata nei territori e nelle tradizioni.
È proprio per questo che sono particolarmente orgoglioso di annunciare che un rinomato chef ucraino arriverà presto a Monaco per collaborare con lo chef del Café de Paris, con l’obiettivo di creare un’esperienza gastronomica capace di valorizzare il meglio della cucina ucraina in uno dei luoghi più iconici del Principato. È esattamente questo il tipo di iniziative che desidero moltiplicare: mettere in dialogo due culture attraverso ciò che hanno di più vivo e generoso.
Quali iniziative sono previste nell’ambito di “Les Amis de l’Ucraina”?
Diversi progetti concreti sono già in preparazione e sono lieto di poterne annunciare alcuni.
Innanzitutto, la creazione di una scuola ucraina a Monaco, un progetto per me fondamentale. Per le famiglie ucraine presenti nel Principato, poter offrire ai propri figli un’educazione in lingua ucraina, radicata nella loro cultura e nella loro storia, è una priorità assoluta: è un atto di preservazione identitaria oltre che educativo.
In secondo luogo, stiamo lavorando all’organizzazione di un evento sportivo incentrato sul rugby, con la partecipazione di squadre ucraine. Lo sport è un potente veicolo di visibilità e fratellanza, e il rugby, sport di valori per eccellenza, rispecchia profondamente lo spirito di resilienza che oggi caratterizza l’Ucraina.
Naturalmente sono in preparazione anche altre iniziative — culturali, gastronomiche e artistiche — che saranno annunciate prossimamente. L’idea guida resta la stessa: mostrare un’Ucraina viva, creativa e orgogliosa, non soltanto un’Ucraina in guerra.
Al di là dell’associazione, in che modo il Consolato intende strutturare la comunità ucraina?
Il Consolato rappresenta innanzitutto un punto di riferimento istituzionale, ed è proprio ciò che finora mancava.
Concretamente, stiamo lavorando alla creazione di un registro degli ucraini residenti nel Principato e lungo la Costa Azzurra, all’attivazione di canali di comunicazione diretti e alla stipula di accordi con fornitori di servizi locali per facilitare le procedure amministrative quotidiane.
L’obiettivo è chiaro: passare da una comunità dispersa a una comunità visibile, connessa e orgogliosa di esserlo.
A che punto sono i progetti di ricostruzione dell’Ucraina?
Ci troviamo attualmente in una fase di strutturazione delle partnership. Sono in corso diverse interlocuzioni con attori dei settori energetico e immobiliare, in particolare attorno al concetto di smart city, che integri sin dall’inizio standard di efficienza energetica e resilienza.
La mia convinzione è chiara: aspettare la fine del conflitto sarebbe un errore strategico. I progetti finanziati e pianificati oggi saranno i primi a essere realizzati domani. Monaco, con la sua rete di family office e investitori istituzionali, può svolgere un ruolo concreto in questo processo.
Nel suo insieme, l’azione avviata dal Consolato Onorario restituisce l’immagine di un progetto che guarda al futuro con determinazione, intrecciando iniziative concrete e visione strategica.
In un contesto segnato da profonde complessità, il ruolo del Console si inserisce con consapevolezza e senso di responsabilità, nella volontà di costruire ponti duraturi tra Ucraina e Principato di Monaco.
Se l’incarico è solo all’inizio, le linee già tracciate lasciano intravedere sviluppi significativi: non solo per la comunità ucraina nel territorio monegasco, ma anche per il contributo che Monaco potrà offrire, nel tempo, al percorso di rinascita dell’Ucraina.
