The Monaco Grand Prix of 1962: two partners in crime, in both life and love, are about to pull off a massive heist. Do you remember Danny Ocean? The character played by the charming George Clooney in the famous saga? Well, taking a step back in time, this story is actually about his parents. They are the pioneers who taught their children the art of the con, so to speak.
The choice of the Principality as a location came down to two main factors: it is an elegant, luxurious place, and it offers the pure adrenaline that defines its Grand Prix, made even more captivating by the presence of vintage cars. What better distraction for an Ocean-style heist? According to early rumours, it will involve a robbery aboard the yacht of a fabulously wealthy tycoon.
The two main characters will be played by Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper respectively, whilst their antagonist will be Wagner Moura.
This is the first prequel to Ocean’s 11, which, however, is not the true originator. In fact, the original film dates back to 1960 and stars Frank Sinatra. The one with Clooney is therefore a remake directed by Steven Soderbergh, which launched the highly successful trilogy.
In case you missed it, here is a quick recap: Danny Ocean is a famous thief who works alongside his right-hand man, Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), with whom he puts together a proper crew made up of 11, then 12, then 13 members. This explains the film titles (Ocean’s Eleven – 2001, Ocean’s Twelve – 2004, Ocean’s Thirteen – 2007).
In the first film, the goal is to steal a 150-million-dollar haul from a famous Las Vegas casino during a boxing match. Romantic motives are never far away, as the casino owner, Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), is the new partner of Tess (Julia Roberts), Danny’s ex-wife.
In the second instalment, Terry returns to the forefront to reclaim what was stolen from him, leading the new crew to pull off several robberies, including that of a Fabergé egg in Rome.
Turning from antagonist to collaborator, Terry also returns in the final film of the saga. His goal this time is to rob Willy Bank (Al Pacino), another Las Vegas casino owner, alongside Danny’s crew.
There is also a brilliant all-female spin-off, Ocean’s 8. It stars Debbie (Sandra Bullock), who spends five years in prison meticulously planning the perfect heist. Her mission is to assemble a crew of eight women and steal a spectacular Cartier necklace during the most glamorous event of the year: the Met Gala.
Anticipation is therefore high for the new adventures of the very people who taught Danny and Debbie the tricks of the trade. Filming will begin in late July 2026, with a release date already set for June 25, 2027.
The whole affair will once again be wrapped in the vintage glamour of 1960s Monte Carlo. It promises to pay homage to the very first film, recreating its irresistible atmosphere of dinner jackets, smoky casino rooms, dazzling jewellery and elegant cocktails.

Il personaggio interpretato dall’affascinante George Clooney nella famosa saga? Ecco, facendo un passo all’indietro nel tempo, si tratta proprio dei suoi genitori. I precursori che hanno insegnato l’arte della truffa, se così si può dire, ai loro figli.
La scelta del Principato come location è ricaduta su due fattori principali: un luogo elegante e lussuoso e l’adrenalina che contraddistingue il suo Gran Premio, resa ancora più affascinante dalla presenza di vetture d’epoca. Quale distrazione migliore per un colpo alla Ocean? Secondo le prime indiscrezioni, si tratterà di un furto a bordo dello yacht di un ricchissimo magnate.
I due protagonisti saranno interpretati rispettivamente da Margot Robbie e Bradley Cooper, mentre il loro antagonista sarà Wagner Moura.

Da antagonista a collaboratore, Terry ricompare anche nell’ultimo film della saga. Questa volta si unisce alla banda di Danny per rapinare Willy Bank (Al Pacino), anch’egli proprietario di un casinò a Las Vegas.
Non manca uno spin-off tutto al femminile: Ocean’s 8. La protagonista è Debbie (Sandra Bullock), che trascorre gli ultimi cinque anni della sua pena in carcere elaborando il colpo perfetto. Il suo obiettivo è rubare, insieme alla sua squadra di otto donne, una celebre collana Cartier durante l’evento più glamour dell’anno, il Met Gala.
Grande attesa, quindi, per le nuove avventure di coloro che hanno insegnato i trucchi del mestiere a Danny e Debbie. Le riprese prenderanno il via a fine luglio 2026, mentre l’uscita nelle sale è già fissata per il 25 giugno 2027.
Il tutto sarà ancora una volta avvolto dal fascino vintage della Monte Carlo degli anni Sessanta. Non mancherà l’omaggio alla pellicola originale, ricreando quell’atmosfera senza tempo fatta di smoking impeccabili, sale da gioco avvolte dal fumo, gioielli scintillanti e cocktail eleganti: un mondo ricco di fascino e intriso di malinconia.
