Qualifying: chaos and drama
The starting grid had already been shaped by a turbulent qualifying session: six red flags, several crashes involving drivers such as Piastri, Leclerc and others. - Oscar Piastri: the disappointment of the weekend. A poor qualifying followed by a first-lap crash. Risk management errors that, in such a tight championship, could prove extremely costly.
The 2025 Baku GP enters the history books as one of the pivotal races of the season. Not so much for the victory – which Verstappen fully deserved – but for how it reshaped the championship narrative: Piastri’s absence from the points doesn’t just hurt him, it opens doors for Norris, gives hope to others, and chips away at the predictability of a title fight many thought was already over.

La griglia di partenza era già stata segnata da una qualifica turbolenta: sei interruzioni con bandiere rosse, incidenti per numerosi piloti, tra cui Piastri, Leclerc e altri. Verstappen ha saputo sfruttare ogni pausa, restare concentrato quando la pista e le condizioni erano le più complicate, e assicurarsi la pole con un tempo di 1:41.117.

Implicazioni per il campionato

- George Russell: un secondo posto che vale oro per la Mercedes, che continua a costruire su costanza e solidità, anche quando non ha la macchina migliore.
- Carlos Sainz Jr. & Williams: la sorpresa più piacevole. Potenziale mostrato nelle FP e in qualifica, trasformato in risultato concreto in gara.
- Oscar Piastri: la delusione. Un weekend iniziato male (qualifiche) e finito peggio (ritiro). Errori di gestione del rischio che, in un campionato così tirato, possono costare molto caro.
Il GP di Baku 2025 entra negli annali come una delle gare chiave della stagione. Non tanto per la vittoria – che Verstappen ha meritato – quanto per come ha cambiato la narrativa del campionato: l’assenza di Piastri non penalizza solo lui, ma apre spiragli per Norris, offre speranze agli altri, riduce la prevedibilità di chi pensava che tutto fosse già deciso.
