Luxury, intrigue, and mystery are set to return with The White Lotus. The HBO
hit, created by American director and showrunner Mike White, has become
famous for filming its seasons in iconic lifestyle and wellness destinations,
ranging from Hawaii and Sicily to Thailand.
For its fourth season, the production is heading to Cannes, St. Tropez, and
Monaco. The French Riviera will be showcased through its signature charm and
cultural prestige. In a meta-twist, the characters’ storylines will unfold against
the backdrop of the world-famous Cannes Film Festival. HBO maintains a
strong partnership with Four Seasons thanks to the series.
While there has been heavy speculation regarding the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, the network has yet to confirm it. However, the production centerpiece is highly likely to be the Château de la Messardière, which is already listed among the filming locations. After the tranquil resort vibes of previous seasons, audiences are about to be swept away by red carpets and pure glitz.
Fans will be thrilled to see the return of Greg (played by Jon Gries) and Belinda
(played by Natasha Rothwell). There is also massive buzz surrounding the new
additions to the ensemble, with standout names including:Vincent Cassel, Steve
Coogan, Alexander Ludwig and many more.
Until just a few days ago, Helena Bonham Carter was among the prominent
Hollywood stars set for the new season. Following her iconic roles in Harry
Potter and The Crown, audiences were eagerly anticipating her appearance.
However, after only nine days of filming, the actress has departed the set.
This was confirmed by an HBO spokesperson in a statement to Deadline,
stating: “With filming just underway on season four of The White Lotus, it had
become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena
Bonham Carter did not align once on set” -he added more details for the fans –
“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast
in the coming weeks”.
Rumors have circulated suggesting a possible rift between the actress and her
co-star, Sandra Bernhard. However, Carter’s team has denied these claims,
asserting that the two artists never even crossed paths on set.
Notably, the actress’s departure isn’t the only exit the series has seen. Infact the
social themes the series explores, as privilege and colonialist double standards,
have long been defined by the famous theme song “Renaissance”, composed by
Cristobal Tapia de Veer. The track became a massive hit, frequently played by
DJs in clubs and at festivals. However, following reported creative differences
with management, it appears that even the composer will be leaving The White
Lotus team. His tribal rhythms became an integral part of the show’s identity,
even earning the series multiple Emmy Awards.
Despite these changes, will the fourth season manage to keep fans glued to the
screen once again? We’ll just have to wait and see how the French Riviera takes
center stage in these new plotlines.

Lusso, intrighi e misteri stanno per tornare con The White Lotus. La serie targata HBO, figlia del regista e showrunner statunitense Mike White, è ormai nota per filmare le sue stagioni in importanti mete legate al lifestyle e al benessere; tra i suoi sfondi: le Hawaii, la Sicilia e la Thailandia.
Ebbene, per la sua quarta stagione — che in precedenza ha accolto nel suo cast i famosissimi Theo James e Sydney Sweeney — le riprese avverranno tra Cannes, St. Tropez e Monaco. La Costa Azzurra avrà modo di essere rappresentata attraverso il suo fascino e il forte impatto culturale. Le storie dei personaggi, infatti, si muoveranno attorno a nuove trame nel corso del Festival di Cannes.
HBO detiene inoltre, grazie a The White Lotus, una solida partnership con la Four Seasons. Il pubblico, dopo averla conosciuta per i suoi celebri ruoli in Harry Potter e The Crown, attendeva con trepidazione la sua apparizione. Tuttavia, dopo solo nove giorni di riprese, l’attrice ha abbandonato il set.
A confermarlo un portavoce di HBO, che ha rilasciato una dichiarazione sul sito Deadline, affermando: “Il ruolo che Mike White aveva scritto per Helena Bonham Carter non ha trovato la sua forma giusta nel momento delle riprese”, aggiungendo poi ulteriori dettagli per i fan: “Il ruolo verrà completamente ripensato, riscritto e riassegnato nelle prossime settimane”.
Voci di corridoio hanno ipotizzato un diverbio tra l’attrice e la collega, nonché altro membro del cast, Sandra Bernhard. Il team della Carter ha però smentito, sostenendo che le due artiste non si sarebbero neppure mai incontrate sul set.
Quello dell’attrice, però, non è l’unico abbandono nella serie. I temi sociali che lo show ha portato con sé negli anni, tra privilegi e doppi standard colonialistici, erano stati accompagnati dalla famosa sigla “Renaissance”, composta da Cristobal Tapia de Veer.
La melodia aveva riscosso grande successo anche nei club e nei festival, portando i dj a riproporla svariate volte come una vera hit. Ebbene, dopo alcune divergenze con la direzione, sembra che l’autore abbandonerà a sua volta il team di The White Lotus. Il ritmo tribale delle sue composizioni era divenuto parte integrante dell’identità della serie, facendo vincere allo show persino premi Emmy.
Nonostante questi cambiamenti, la quarta stagione riuscirà ancora una volta a tenere incollati i fan allo schermo? Non ci resta che aspettare e scoprire come la Riviera francese sarà protagonista indiscussa di nuove trame avvincenti.
