Chez Bruno A Michelin Star That Makes a Family Shine

EN

In Lorgues, in the heart of Provence, Benjamin, Samuel and the truffle have become the guardians of a family-style hospitality, welcoming guests and giving them, in return, a taste of childhood memories.

There is something magical about the art of hospitality, especially when it is rooted in a generous land. It is not simply about being excellent at what you do. It is about having an innate energy and knowing how to receive it, share it and pass it on to every guest, as if welcoming people were first and foremost a pleasure, and only afterwards a duty.

That is what you feel at Chez Bruno, a restaurant suspended between earth and sky: a Michelin star, like the stars that light up the sky above this truly unique Provençal setting, and the land from which its truffles come, the star ingredient of the cuisine and one capable of winning over even those who, before arriving, never considered themselves great truffle lovers.

When you arrive in Lorgues, you feel as though you have stepped into one of those films that portray Provence through vineyards, olive trees and sunsets. But once you walk through the entrance of Chez Bruno, you immediately realise that the chef’s first course has already been served: it is the sun slowly setting, embracing the restaurant from above and giving guests a warm welcome.

The welcome is gentle. The vegetation is calm, the people are relaxed. There is something here that brings back memories of Sunday lunches at restaurants many years ago, when eating out was a special occasion, something to look forward to and share with the family. The terrace is the first taste of the experience. The tables, the elegant and understated table settings, the large tree at the centre of the patio: everything speaks of a place that does not need to show off its identity. You only have to look at it. And that tree almost seems to tell the story of the family that built Chez Bruno. Deep roots, branches that have spread over time, generations that have transformed a place into a home of hospitality. Not simply a team, but a family working together. Raw and precious at the same time, rare and surprising, the truffle becomes the perfect symbol of his place. It belongs to the earth, yet it is constantly transformed. And that is exactly what happens throughout the dinner.

Everything flows with the same natural ease as the leaves of that tree moving in the Provençal evening breeze. There is calm. There is a desire to savour the moment.

And then there is Samuel. Samuel arrives with all his energy and an unmistakable desire to make every guest feel good. It does not matter which truffle menu you choose, or whether you decide to drink wine or not. There is only one priority: to eat well and enjoy an experience that stays with you.

And then the flavour arrives. It comes in different forms, with different textures, quantities and intensities. Because at Chez Bruno, the truffle is not simply an ingredient. It is almost a member of the team: it has to adapt, evolve and find the right way to reach the palate each time. From beginning to end.It is as though Benjamin has an ally in the kitchen, rather than simply an ingredient.

Then comes dessert.

And this is where something unexpected happens. Even before tasting them, the selection of desserts takes you back in time. To those childhood moments when you could hardly wait for your birthday cake to arrive. To those times when the whole family was gathered around a table and happiness seemed to have a simple shape: being together.

Perhaps this is what Chez Bruno is really about. Not just the truffle. Not just the cuisine. Not just a Michelin star. It is about a family that has learned to transform what it was given into something to be shared. What Clément, the founder of Chez Bruno, gave to his children, they are now giving back to their guests: a sense of hospitality that is genuine, professional and deeply moving. A form of hospitality that is born from the land, grows with the family and finally reaches the table.

And when it does, for a moment, you really feel at home.
